SAP Challenge: WOMPA project
All over the world, service engineers and mechanics play a major role in the service offered by Philips Medical Systems. Using laptop-based measuring and testing systems, they visit our customers – hospitals and other large organizations – to provide service coordinated by headquarters or by a local planning department. The way of planning and working currently varies from country to country. The Work Order Management – Performance Assurance (WOMPA) project is about to change this.
New mobile SAP technology, linked to laptops and PDAs, will integrate fieldwork more efficiently into the central SAP system. The many different communication and planning applications currently used for will be replaced by a single platform that enables much more intensive communication with ‘headquarters’. The result will be more efficient use of available resources. And since all measurement data will be centralized in the SAP system, quality management will be improved too.
